Functionality is Key for our Client’s Garage
Garage organization can be tricky. Yes, their main purpose is to store our cars but garages have also become our de facto storage space. It’s hard to find that perfect balance of storage vs. clutter! We want it to be accessible, but also look nice - after all, most of us walk through the garage at least once a day on our way to and from home.
Project Overview
I'm thrilled to take you on this journey as we explore one of our client's garages. The transformation is impressive! We've achieved what we set out to do - get everything off the floor, out of boxes, and into easily accessible spaces that also look fantastic.
To make this garage makeover a reality, we teamed up with Store Pro, a local garage storage company known for their exceptional work. I've always had a great experience working with them, and this project is no exception.
Here are some highlights of this garage project:
The Countertop
We've added a small but spacious countertop to the garage. It's not just for storing things; it's a versatile workspace for spreading out, whether you're working on a project, fixing things, or just need a handy surface.
The Pegboard
Pegboards are your secret weapon when it comes to garage organization. They are fantastic for keeping tools and other items organized and off the floor. You can customize them to fit your needs, with baskets, hooks, and more. Plus, they make it easy to see everything at a glance.
Drawers for Quick Access
Sometimes you need quick access to your tools and smaller items. That's where drawers come in handy. They keep things neatly stowed away, and you can grab what you need without any hassle.
Ever needed a lightbulb urgently? We've got you covered. In a designated cabinet, you'll find all the light bulbs you need. No more rummaging around in the dark when a bulb needs replacing.
Cabinets
Cabinets make excellent use of the available space. Inside, you can use bins, baskets, or simply store loose items. In this garage, we've got bins that are labeled for different holidays, keeping all your holiday décor neat and ready to go.
And a quick tip: When it comes to garage storage, opt for plastic bins with lids over cardboard boxes. Garages can experience extreme temperature fluctuations, and cardboard can become damp, and eventually start to rot, as well as attract critters!
Vertical Shelving for More Space
Garages don't always offer a lot of space for storage (since their primary purpose is to house your vehicles!) In such cases, think vertically. We've installed high shelves which maximize the use of every inch. This is perfect for items you don't need every day but still want to keep accessible - like suitcases!
With some thoughtful planning and the right storage solutions, your garage can be a well-organized, functional, and stylish space. Happy organizing!
